Principal Infrastructure Engineer – Operations Engineering | Contract | London

If you’re a smart, detailed orientated DevOps and infrastructure engineer with a strong working knowledge of Azure and a willingness to embrace and drive a continuous learning culture where the development of new skills is paramount to success then this role is for you.

This is a fantastic role within my client’s Infrastructure Engineering team who really promote Infrastructure as Code. This role will work in tandem with the Operations Engineering team and will have a real focus in the way that this team delivers new products. You will get the chance to change and drive value for their customers through the design and support of infrastructure solutions within this team.

Focusing on the delivery of work within the sprint, you will also be architecting and designing network infrastructure to support business goals. Continuous Learning is a huge focus within this team and you will be a part of driving that culture to develop new skills with a real focus on automation and reliability engineering. This role is not only seen as vital to the bank but also very much needed across all the engineering teams to ensure standards and best practices are a common theme throughout.

About the client: My client offers credit cards for UK residents with a limited or uneven credit history.

Key Skills:

Minimum of 6 years applying engineering in a commercial environment

Extensive experience as a Sysadmin, proven experience in in delivery or experienced 3rd line Support

Extensive work across Virtualisation (VMware, HyperV, XenServer, Containers, Serverless)

Experience of building and supporting infrastructure solutions in traditional data centres and Cloud services (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) – ideally Azure

Experience in PaaS and IaaS cloud solutions

Infrastructure Automation and configuration management are key

Scripting knowledge (JSON, Powershell, Bash, YAML)

Proven experience of working within a DevOps/Agile environment

Managing enterprise Storage technology

A background in mentoring and coaching engineers and associate engineers across best practice.
