As the ideal candidate you will need to have the following qualities and attributes:

Responsibilities

  • Designing and producing high performing and stable applications to perform complex processing of massive volumes of data in a multi-tenancy Hadoop environment
  • Building end-to-end applications that make use of large volumes of source data from the operational systems and output insights back to business systems
  • Building real-time data processing applications which are integrated with business systems to enable value from analytic models to drive rapid decision making
  • Working with the Group Data Engineering team to integrate and deliver developed solutions
  • Managing complex stakeholder relationships

Skills / Experience Required

  • Proven experience as an expert Big Data Engineer
  • Extensive experience with Hadoop ecosystem (Spark, Hive/Impala, HBase, Yarn)
  • Must have experience working in large-scale multi tenancy Hadoop environments;
  • Performance tuning applications on Hadoop and configuring Hadoop systems to maximise performance
  • Strong software development experience in Scala and Python programing languages
  • Background in designing, building and managing applications to process large amounts of data utilising Hadoop
  • Experience with Unix-based systems, including bash programming
  • Experience with other distributed technologies such as Cassandra, Solr/ElasticSearch, Flink, Flume would also be highly advantageous
