Engineering Manager – Digital Transformation

I am working on a fantastic opportunity that I have with a client who are a household name and one of the preeminent companies in the UK and a global communication giant. They are looking to launch a huge high profile digital innovation unit to help thousands of businesses and customers in their digital transformation journey and are looking for several Engineering Managers and Technical Leads to work in new teams to manage web and full stack developers working on cutting edge new products and services to fast-track digital transformation.

Their initiatives are ambitious, ranging from digitizing customer journeys, to launching marketplaces and ecosystems, and building disruptive new AI-powered propositions across Cloud, 5G, digital edge, digital work, sustainability, and security, that enable entirely new revenue streams.

You’d be working for an agile and self-contained team working as a Manager on multiple projects in their Digital Innovation hub, but with the backing of a household name. The salary is very competitive, they offer a comprehensive package and the role is mostly remote based with occasional travel to either their Birmingham or Manchester offices.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of engineers in the ideation and technical development critical business journeys
• Provide strategic and operational oversight for Enterprise software product development
• Work closely with business leaders to develop short and long-term strategies.
• Manage business expectations, resolve conflicts, and keep businesses aligned
• Develop and drive execution on 6 months and 1-year road maps
• Drive innovation, establish new approaches in improving productivity
• Establish a metrics-based organisation, develop critical operational metrics and push for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in building software products
• 5+ years of experience with languages such as JavaScript, Java, PHP, Python, or C++
• 5+ years of experience with agile systems development methodologies
• 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams, including hiring/termination and performance management
