Interim CTO/Technology Advisor – Online Dating App

Interim CTO/Technical Advisor – Online Dating App (10-20 hours per week) | Fully Remote (GMT time-zone) | ~£1000+p/day | Outside IR35

My client is a rapidly growing and popular online dating application for iOS and Android, with 500k current users, looking for 10x growth across all platforms.

We are looking for a Senior technical advisor to work remotely on a part-time basis, you would be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic technology plan and vision for the business as they scale and grow.

You will ensure the Technology stack is fit for purpose, lead and define the overall technology development strategy and associated technology development and maintenance processes.

• Developer in infrastructure and technical architecture that can support 10x growth in usage with sophisticated data modeling.
• Deliver a high-quality, highly scalable product aligned to the company’s work.
• Provide a platform to enable driven product and growth decisions
• Provide technical knowledge to support planning and specification builds.
• Set and manage department budgets
• Set standards of quality and user focus across the engineering team.

What we are looking for:

• Experience in operating in a B2C environment
• Proven success of delivering a product to the US market
• Working knowledge of developing a tech infrastructure that is built for speed and scalability
• Evidence of having previously been through an ambitious growth journey with a successful outcome.

Tech Stack:

Front-End: React Native, Typescript, Redux, Duck, Jest, CircleCI, FastLane

Backend: CoffeeScript, Haskell/Go, GCP, GKE, MongoDB, Postgres, RabbitMQ, Redis, Cloudinary, GetStream, Amazon SES, Nexxmo

My client likes to have an extra safety net, and typically uses strongly typed functional languages. The code is lint-ed, automatically tested on multiple levels, and tested once integrated. CI systems are building and testing their code, code review processes are set up in order for engineers to improve and spot problems early.

You will have the support of a bright, experienced development team, with knowledgeable team leads, to execute the strategy. There will be no expectation to manage people, this role is primarily to implement tech strategy that will define the future success of the app.
