Engineer – Middleware – CICS – IMS TM, IMS

Engineer – middleware – Testing and automation on Linux systems, particularly RHEL7 – Mainframe middleware including CICS, IMS, IBM MQ, IMS TM

Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated professional Engineer to support the middleware team. Working in continuous delivery/testing environment you will join a team of technicians, developers and system testers in multiple time zones and multiple locations. You will deliver automation test scripts to ensure that the system at integration level is in a consistent state of build and is safe to be deployed.

Duties & responsibilities:

• Review product design documentation to ensure that requirements stated are correct, unambiguous, and verifiable Consult with product development to evaluate system interfaces, operational requirements, and performance requirements of the overall system
• Define test methods and create test plans for new or updated software projects. Determine if the software will perform accurately and reliably according to documented requirements as well as established standards under both normal and abnormal conditions
• Accurately provide project (EPIC’s / Story / Task) testing estimates
• Write automated test cases and script them on the chosen test platform
• Recommend design improvements or corrections to engineers throughout the development process
• Maintain effective communication with the project software engineers on project limitation, capability, performance requirement and hardware interface changes
• Execute test plans and create test reports to describe program evaluation, testing, and correction
• Monitor testing performance to prevent reoccurrence of program operating problems and ensure efficiency of operation
• Support and validate data collection processes for various customer and development projects
• Participate in development and test meetings

Essential Skills:

• Extensive experience around testing and automation on Linux systems, particularly RHEL7
• Knowledge of bash shell / command line in Linux.
• Debugging and analysis of system logs.
• Experience of Jira, Git and Jenkins
• Mainframe middleware including CICS, IMS, IBM MQ, IMS TM
• Mainframe development experience in PL1, Cobol, Assembler
• Knowledge of APIs and REST.
• Development experience in C, C++, C#, VB , PERL, PYTHON, Java
• Use of Docker or other containerisation tools
• Exposure to Cloud Service – AWS and Azure
• UI / UX testing experience (browser based)
• Mainframe security principals (RACF / ACF2 / Top Secret)
• Certified ISEB/ISTQB at advanced level
• PMP, Prince2 or Six Sigma certification
• Scrum master
