Front End Engineer

Our client run a platform of doctors, nurses, researchers and technology experts working to solve the big problems in global healthcare. Working with NGOs, governments and healthcare providers, delivering lightweight, connectable applications that save lives and reduce costs. The overall mission is to deliver better healthcare for everyone.

Our client are looking for frontend engineers (mid and senior level) to join their product and engineering team. You will work on ahealthcare platform which supports healthcare professionals and patients in Africa and the Middle East.

About You

We’re looking for self-motivated engineers capable of critical analysis and problem solving on a wide range of issues. You’re interested in building out solutions that are fit for purpose in terms of code, operations and relevant system qualities (scalability, performance, robustness and other non-functional properties). We’re looking for the right aptitude and attitude in people to become great engineers.

You:

• Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and interested in collaborating with other engineers on problem-solving
• Are curious, innovative and act with care for others
• Speak up with candour and clarity
• Take a data-driven approach to decision making and problem-solving

Essential Skills

You will have:

• Experience working with a programming language building web/mobile apps using Javascript
• Good understanding of React. If you have experience of Vue, Angular or Ember and you want to move to React then great
• Experience with CSS and AWS
• An appreciation of clean code and good design principles
• Working with RESTful API endpoints using libraries such as Axios for request/response and parsing
• A good understanding of unit and integration testing (e.g. using Jest)
• Experience with Git for version control

Desirable Skills

It would be great if you have one or more of the following:

• Experience with Redux/RxJs
• Experience building mobile apps
• Working with front-end performance problems
• Experience of writing front-end acceptance tests using Puppeteer and the headless Chrome API
• Experience of webpack
