We are partnered with an exciting scale -up client who has a global presence providing video content for outdoor lifestyle activities – including Cycling, Mountain biking and Triathlon. They reach, engage, and connect over 40 million enthusiasts globally through their online & app-based video channels – free & subscription based.

They have built a forward thinking, creative and collaborative work culture which has resulted in the business achieving great success over the last few years. With an exciting roadmap to scale the business in both headcount and technology, they are now looking to recruit a Head of Engineering working closing with the CTO to drive business growth.

As part of the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for an existing Engineering team of 60 based throughout Europe, with 7 Tech Leads as direct reports – the team is split across: QA, Data analytics, DevOps, Web Development and Android & IOS.

Key Responsibilities

• Establish a technical strategy for the Development team.
• Evaluate and identify the best technology platforms, tools and frameworks to be used on each project.
• Influence and push a software engineering culture based on excellence.
• Establish code reviews, assurance reviews and specification conformance testing, following the software development methodology.
• Mentor and develop developer leads, to help them learn how to coach and manage their own teams

Skills, Experience

• Previous experience launching a native apps to the mass market (B2C)
• Experience with services built in the Cloud (GCP, AWS)
• Know how to motivate developers and report complex technical issues to senior management in a digestible format
• Proven track record of building and managing high performance Engineering teams

Location: Fully remote

Salary: £90,000 – £120,000 pa, plus benefits
