Java Developer (spring/boot/RESTful) UK

JAVA DEVELOPER – Digital – UK

Day rate: £400-£600

Duration: 3 – 6 months

Start: ASAP

We are looking for a Java Developer to build high quality software and web applications, from solution design right through to delivery, for a range of customers on a variety of platforms. Ideally you will have experience of building software applications in an agile team-based environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Reviewing other team members’ work
• Using the latest technology and tools to improve the software development process
• Regularly demonstrating work to users and team members

To be successful in this role your experience should include:

• Java SE and Java EE Frameworks
• Spring MVC
• RESTful Web Services
• JavaScript (preferably through JavaScript MVC frameworks)
• CSS
• HTML
• Relational Databases and SQL
• Hibernate / JPA
• Apache Tomcat or other JavaServlet containers
• Experience in either developing highly interactive web sites that provide a great user experience or in developing high concurrency, resilient integration solutions.
• Experience of agile branching strategies and source code management using tools such as Git
• Effective communication
• Agile software development experience
• Continuous integration and deployment experience

Desirable skills include:

• Unit and Integration testing frameworks, for example JUnit
• Hibernate / JPA
• Spring Boot
• Other databases, for example NoSQL, Event & Graph
• Apache Tomcat or other JavaServlet containers
• Experience of agile branching strategies and source code management using tools such as Git
• Delivering code that conforms to the SOLID principles
• Performing code reviews
• Continuous integration and deployment experience
• Design skills (OO, Enterprise Integration, Web Services, User Interface)
• Development within continuous integration environment (preferably Jenkins or TeamCity)
• Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)
