Role: Java Software Engineer

Our global FS client is starting to modernise their main platform from COBOL programs running on the HPE NonStop Guardian platform to new technology capable of running on either HPE NonStop OSS or on a commoditised platform such as Linux.

Responsibilities & Duties

It is expected that this migration will be an incremental process over a period of years.

Their new technology will be Java based and to use Event Hub technology (such as Kafka) for integration between the new migrated services and non-migrated legacy system. Platform independence of migrated services is required to allow running initially on HPE NonStop and later on Linux environments.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

• Working as part of the Agile development team to deliver migration of legacy application to new event based and service oriented architecture solution working in collaboration with the Solution Architect, Technical Lead, application architects and other stakeholders.
• Delivering a coherent end-to-end IT solution that meets both functional and non-functional requirements.
• Ensuring that the IT solution complies with the Enterprise engineering and architecture standards.
• Ensuring end-to-end consistency of solution delivery across platforms and teams by, for instance, organising walkthroughs of the solution with delivery teams.
• Ensuring that the solution meets guidelines and standards for design and development.
• Establishing prototypes / proof of concepts to prove the key components of proposed new architecture.
• Establishing estimation principles for phases of the migration program and for the proof of concept exercises.
• Undertaking hands-on development and coach staff in the new technologies used.
• Presenting proposed solution architecture and plans to Euroclear management and all stakeholders.

Nice to have Skills:

Though not a deal-breaker it would be highly beneficial for candidates to possess the following skills:

• Messaging Standards o ISO 15022, ISO 20022 and JSON.
• Experience in Agile development.
