Mid-Level Software Engineer (Java, Spring, JavaScript, React, GraphQL, Kotlin, Scala, AWS) – Digital / Travel – North London

Duration: 1year contract

Rate: £430 per day

Sitting at the sharp end of the conversion funnel our platform processes millions of bookings a week from customers across the globe using one of their 40+ localized websites or award-winning mobile app. It’s an especially exciting time to join the team as we’re setting about building the next generation of our platform using modern frameworks such as React and GraphQL together with a microservices based architecture.

As a Contract Software Engineer in the team, you’ll deliver great features and be involved in all aspects of the delivery process for both front end and server-side implementations. The Contract Software Engineer will participate in requirements gathering, solution design, development, testing, production release and monitoring.

The Contract Software Engineer will be building a market leading customer facing web application, solving hard problems at scale and contributing to mission-critical software with a direct impact on the bottom line.

The team uses the following skills: Java, Spring, Javascript, React, GraphQL, Kotlin, Scala, AWS

• Develop high quality software for the web tier
• Design and implement scalable server-side solutions
• Write highly optimised front-end code
• Write unit, automation and integration tests to ensure the quality of your product
• Implement high quality application logging to support operational monitoring at scale
• Ensure the integrity and stability of your platform by performing peer code reviews
• Influence high level technical decision making and direction setting
• Participate in multi-functional discussions to define technical product requirements
• Investigate, debug and resolve production issues
• Identify and take ownership of technical initiatives
• Act as a role model to more junior engineers and assist with coaching
• Collaborate with teammates across locations to deliver on common goals

Skills required for you to be successful: Contract Software Engineer (Java, Spring, Javascript, React, GraphQL, Kotlin, Scala, AWS) – Digital Business – North London

• You have well rounded enterprise level professional Java development experience
• You have built products using Spring MVC frameworks, RESTful APIs and SOA
• You have strong front-end development experience using HTML/CSS/Javascript
• You know your way around UI automation frameworks with Cucumber/Scala experience a plus
• You are well versed in the use of version control systems such as Git/Github or Perforce
• You have solid experience of working with agile methodologies and CI/CD principles
• You have an excellent understanding of server-side design patterns and their applications
• You are a Clean Code practitioner
• You have first class communication skills and a strong customer focus
• You have strong computer science fundamentals and ideally a BS/MS degree or higher
• You have worked up and down the web stack from building beautiful UI’s to optimising the backend and developing API’s
• You have a deep understanding of modern web architectures
• You have developed products using Kotlin or GraphQL
• You have built UIs using React, Typescript or Less
• You have developed Java based microservices and deployed them to AWS
• You have Devops experience
• You have E-commerce or technical Travel Industry experience
