Salary/Benefits – £96,780 + 10% pension + 10% bonus + 30 days holiday (plus bank holidays)

Salt is recruiting for a Principal Java Engineer on behalf of one of the Big Four UK Banks – as of today they have over 7.5M customers and 850,000 small business accounts!

This is an exciting and challenging role where you will be joining their Payments Services & Technology team during a transformational phase, you’ll help them build and maintain resilient and secure payment platforms to make sure their customers are able to make transactions safely, and revolutionise the payments experience.

As a Principal Java Engineer, you’ll be leading the more significant, complex and technically challenging assignments, coordinating multiple feature teams, making sure that their technical journeys support realisation of the targets, and deliver the values of the relevant metrics published to their investors.

This will see you defining, creating and providing oversight and governance of engineering and design solutions with a focus on end-to-end automation, simplification, resilience, security, performance, scalability and reusability.

They are looking for a Principal Java Engineer to have the following experience:

• Proficiency in Java, Spring, Rest APIs, Microservices, SQL/NoSQL DB, Oracle, Mongo, middleware, and UI technologies
• Experience with the design, build, test, implementation or supporting of high resilient and scalable applications, preferably payment systems
• Experience in cloud based application development and deployment.
• A strong background in leading software development teams in a matrix structure, introducing and executing technical strategies

For this Principal Java Engineer position, they are paying from £80,000 to £96,780 depending on experience plus excellent benefits like 10% bonus, 10% pension (non-contributory) and 38 days holiday (including bank holidays)

For this role you will also be required to come into their Edinburgh offices 2 days per month – the rest of the time can be fully remote.
