React.JS- Developer- Contract- London- £500-600.00 per day

Our client is a leading entertainment business looking to build a new VOD/OTT application. You will be involved in the whole lifecycle of the development, from architecting the app to deployment. You will deliver high quality software using an agile, behavioural & test-driven development process and you will follow best practices and care about the code you write.

Requirements

• Excited about the opportunity of creating world class web apps

• 3+ years of responsive scalable web application experience.
• Experience of working within a cross functional agile delivery team.
• Being proactive in discussions around planning, supporting the QA’s and key stakeholders business stakeholders defining and implementing acceptance criteria.
• Worked in a team who use all the best practices such as: BDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Pair Programming, etc.
• Having taken functional websites and web apps through the full product lifecycle from concept through to launch.
• Proficient commitment to quality and attention to detail.

The role:

You will have the opportunity to rebuild their commerce platform (product catalogue, registration, authentication) and account management (manage subscriptions, personal details) journeys + help centre (FAQ’s, agent chat, contact us). The other project is rebuilding the customer facing video platform, i.e. ability to watch live + VOD content + search catalogue.

The type of problems you will be solving are the editorial content (stories, short clips, sports data) and the current video service are on 2 different sites, which is very confusing for their customer base. You will b replacing these legacy apps and build one new app for both these services with improved customer journeys (new features and change of look/feel).

You will be scaling this to over 60 territories across Europe for a number of high profile channels and events.

You will be working with React.JS for all of their customer facing web apps, there is a data layer (GraphQL + RESTful) which is being built by their backend services team. Their standard development pipeline uses tools like GitHub, CircleCI, AWS and BrowserStack, they are striving to eventually build a continuous delivery pipeline.

Essential Skills

• JavaScript ES2018/ Node.JS
• React, Redux
• TDD (Mocha, Jest, etc.).
• Responsive CSS.
• GIT.
• Continuous integration tools like CircleCI.

Desirable

• BDD (CucumberJS).
• Server side rendering.
• Familiar with Unix/Linux command line.
• AWS services, e.g. ECS, CloudWatch, Terraform.
• Video streaming experience.
