Release Train Engineer

Greater London Contract / 9 months £650 - £750.00 per day

Release Engineer (RE) | 9 month contract | Inside IR35 | £700-750 p/day

Summary

The Release Engineer (RE) is responsible for leading the development of tactical plans to ensure new developments aligned to transformation strategies are achieved; optimize the delivery of applications/components into the production environment and oversee the transition to full operational support. They will be the predominant role in planning and facilitating the deployment of software in the production environment, with close collaboration with the Programme Director, Engineering Director, and the Chief Product Owner.

More precisely you will:

· Influence Team Leaders and key executive stakeholders to develop tactical plans that will drive ongoing clarity of strategy, decisions, and execution alignment

· Manage the communication of plans by providing visibility and transparency of dates, milestones, and dependencies

· Engage in stakeholder discussion so ensure that teams do not compromise Agile principles and promote collaboration and transparency

· Innovate the overall delivery framework by landing difficult Agile concepts and values to senior stakeholders and identify, escalate and track impediments.

· removes bottlenecks where the teams cannot do it themselves in conjunction with the other members of the leadership team.

· Adapt Product Roadmaps and backlogs, programme plans and schedules, and engineering resource assignments as required throughout software development sprints and releases to respond to emerging requirements and risks,

· Utilise your mastery of broad agile knowledge to innovate complex issues escalated by Agile Delivery Leaders from multiple teams; everyday impediments, larger problems, having the attention of management members and organizing meetings with them to solve problems

· foster constructive and proactive communication, often against divergent opinions across engineering Teams inside and outside of the Programme and the Business Unit to ensure goals and priorities, key decisions, and status are clear to all.

· driving, tracking, and communicating the progress of sprints and releases through team velocity, successful builds and deployments and other metrics

· collaborating with multiple teams across UK & US and Indian

· recognizing the need for change, recommending improvements and assist with implementing best practice

· be responsible for the Programme Increments (iterative approach) to release value. Aiming to have releasable systems.

· create timelines and a calendar for iterations and PIs. While doing this, you will consider all the factors that could affect the deadlines and set realistic values.

· Be responsible for managing the scrum of scrums and working closely with the Engineering Director as part of the scrum of scrums to resolve technical issues.

Knowledge, Skill and Requirements

· A minimum 10+ years of strong experience in IT / engineering role such as Agile Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, Team Leader or other

· Previous RTE experience would be an advantage

· strong practical experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) gained in an engineering leadership role

· Solid comprehension of Lean-Agile frameworks, Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Agile budgeting, and Agile metrics

· Expertise with practical implementation of Scrum and Agile mind set

· strong abilities in coordinating complex project schedules, resolving competing dependencies, and fostering collaboration among globally distributed teams

· comprehensive knowledge of communication planning, risk management and risk mitigation strategies

· good analytical and organization skills with high attention to details

· innovative approach to solving complex problems

· exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to effectively organize & communicate with cross-functional, multicultural teams; strong facilitating skills

· Experience of driving operational efficiencies within large teams

· Experience of working effectively within a matrixed organisation

· Proven ability to build and leverage a network of relationships inside and outside the organisation.

Leadership

· Lead Elevate Performance; ensuring that all team members have stretching personal objectives, development plans and regular performance reviews to embed a high-performance culture. Develop and implement talent management and succession plans to identify and develop high potential employees and ensure an available talent pipeline to meet business and capability requirements.

· Drive employee engagement and openly encourage two-way communication flows

· Ensure training and competency plans are in place and that all team members complete required training in a timely manner.

· Work with leadership team to regularly and pro-actively identify business risks and issues and ensure appropriate steps to mitigate risks are in place and timely remediation of issues

· Ensure fit-for-purpose risk management processes, practices, and associated accountabilities and that these are embedded through training and communication.

· Ensure clearly documented fit-for-purpose operational processes.
