Ruby developer

Ruby Contract- London/Remote working- £500-600 per day

About you:

They are looking for an experienced Ruby developer who thrives in small, fast-moving engineering teams.

Essential skills:

You take pride in writing readable, well-designed and well-tested software. You have experience working with production web applications, ideally in Ruby on Rails. You’ve built front end features with modern JavaScript frameworks and tools. You’re keen to pair program when appropriate, and generally enjoy a culture of code review. You own it. You take responsibility for your work from start to finish.

Additionally, You’re humble, you lap up feedback, and you want to learn and teach. You roll with it. You understand that startups are unpredictable environments, and are comfortable with a degree of chaos. You fit right into our culture of supporting and helping each other.

Not essential, but nice to have:

You practice test-driven development. You’ve worked with relational databases at scale, and had to carefully consider schema design for query performance. You have a computer science related degree.

Current tech stack you will get to work with:

Ruby on Rails, Spree, Solidus, REST, Swagger, GraphQL, Pusher, Stripe, RSpec, Cloudinary, Redis, Postgres, Elasticsearch, SideKiq, Nginx, AWS, Heroku, React.JS, React Native

Skills required:

• Development experience of a wide range of technologies, tools, databases, APIs etc and knows how to use them properly.
• Writing high quality, simple and clean code
• 5+ years Ruby on Rails experience
• Experience with cloud deployment tools and AWS or Google Cloud, Azure
• Experience with relational and noSQL (e.g., MongoDB, CouchDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB etc.) data stores
• Significant experience utilizing RESTful API services and performance tuning large scale applications
• Understand and drive build processes e.g Jenkins, Circle CI), Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery
• A strong understanding of OOP and solid design principles
• Solid experience with RESTful APIs
• Proficiency in writing well-tested code
• Proficient in GIT

Nice to have:

• React.JS or React Native
