Job Title: Senior Cloud Software Engineer – Flexible Working

£60,000 – Azure and/or AWS, using CI/CD, and TDD/BDD, Design & development of cloud-native solutions on AWS/Azure/GCP

Location: London

The Role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience in developing and architecting cloud-native web applications with a focus on backend solutions.

You will have in depth experience of designing, implementing, and deploying web based solutions on Azure and/or AWS, using CI/CD, and TDD/BDD techniques to deliver solutions to industry-standard methodology. You will have experience working within a consultancy or agency environment, and be comfortable working with clients, product managers, consultants, engineers and senior leaders.

As an enthusiastic problem solver who embraces the unknown, you will be comfortable working outside your skillset. You will provide technical leadership to junior developers, helping to develop the development skills, culture, and practices within the team. This role will be suitable for a mid-level software engineer looking to step up to senior level.

Requirements and skills

Crucial Skills:

• Design & development of cloud-native solutions on AWS/Azure/GCP
• IAC (Terraform), CI/CD
• CI/CD
• TDD/BDD
• Node.js, Express, REST, GraphQL
• Javascript, Typescript, Angular, and/or React
• Relational and non-relational databases including PostgreSQL, MSSQL

Person Attributes

• Experience working in an agency/consulting environment
• Experience in developing web-based applications through the whole development life-cycle.
• Experience of working simultaneously working across multiple projects using a range of technologies.
• Experience in mentoring and supporting junior developers in both technical and non-technical aspects of their work.
• Ability and willingness to work outside existing skillset, and be able to rapidly learn new skills and technologies.
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbally, and experience of dealing with clients and other project partners outside the technical team.
• Provides technical leadership in helping to develop strategic direction of the team and support senior leaders in the implementation of that strategy.

Desirable Skills

• Experience of enterprise architecture & documentation
• Leading Agile projects and acting as Scrum Master on small-medium scale projects
• Awareness/understanding of engineering within the built environment
• Awareness/understanding of geospatial and/or 3D data

Qualifications

• BSc Computer Science or other relevant technical/engineering degree, or proven industry experience in a relevant role.
