Tech Lead

Tech Lead- Contract- £650.00 per day

Our client have built an E-Commerce platform allowing their customers to reduce their costs for a number of products and services. They are now looking to innovate and further revolutionise the industry heavily investing within digital to offer a world class customer experience and offer their customers better transparency enabling them to save money. As a Tech Lead you will have full autonomy for their public facing platforms and internal suite to deliver a number of new features.

You will have the opportunity to work in a a fast-paced environment where innovative ideas and delivery of these projects happen quickly.

You will be working on all parts of the systems, from the front-end world of HTML, CSS and JS to the backend side of Ruby on Rails and API’s as well as DevOps.

As a Tech Lead and technical evangelist you will also be mentoring and leading other members of the team to ensure you are promoting best practices, learning and development as well as introducing a culture of sharing and collaboration. It is important you are an active member of the wider community and embracing emerging practices in the technology front, whether it is new tools, a new process or approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Full end-to-end delivery of new features with involvement throughout the entire development life-cycle, from inception to deployment.
• Leadership skills and mentoring others with a passion for learning, architecture, patterns and development principles and best practices
• Team player. Passionate for collaborating with, helping and supporting others.
• You take ownership of the applications, taking full responsibility for shipping the code and once it goes live you will also be monitoring for issues/exceptions and fixing them if they arise.
• Optimize Development – As a Tech Lead you will always be looking for ways to automate and optimize in order to improve processes and/or deliverables.
• You will be passionate about delivering technical solutions engaging with all the stakeholders within the business and peers to assess project feasibility, time/cost estimations and leads on the design for the delivery of technical solutions.
• As a teach lead you will need to ensure you are always communicating and collaborating with the development team and internal stakeholders to deliver solutions, share knowledge and facilitate issue resolution.
• Technical Innovation – Engage with the wider development community and bring new technologies into the business that can help promote innovation and support the company vision.

Requirements

• A seasoned software engineer with at least 4 years of experience developing web applications.
• Solid commercial experience in Ruby on Rails.
• Good understanding of databases, relational (MySQL) and NoSQL.
• Front-end development experience (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap, jQuery)
• Front-end framework experience (React or Vue.js)
• Familiar with typical cloud hosting stack – AWS (including EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, Lambda, etc.), and an understanding of Linux, Apache, MySQL
• Experience working with Web API’s (JSON, Rest, SOAP)
• Experience within a fast-paced Scrum team, with a good understanding of Jira and Confluence.
• Familiar with TDD/BDD development methodologies.
• Familiar with version control (Git, GitHub)
• Good exposure to the development of microservices.
