Tech Lead

We are now hiring for a Tech Lead based out of our Amsterdam office, to help lead and manage the technical strategy approach for many different clients. The overall goal of the Tech Lead is to help deliver properly built digital solutions on an array of technologies while making sure that both the business and the different levels of technical teams have a good understanding of the solution.

Day to day responsibilities will include:

• Leading and participating in/steering workshops & project planning phases
• Providing technical craftsmanship in detailed architecture diagrams, data models, lockups and journey maps
• Translating user requirements into technical solutions
• Managing consultation with senior stakeholders, in our and client branches
• Driving development and the establishment of our coding standards, quality control, testing and process guidelines within our tech team
• Reviewing technical solutions and proposals, evaluating alternative approaches and supporting the development of prototypes as well as technical/functional specifications
• Mentoring and leading team members to effect optimal client training and workflows, while avoiding scope creep
• Ensuring overall transformation of client’s current solutions from legacy setups to state-of-the-art functionality

Requirements

Our ideal candidate has 6+ years of experience in a similar role and will have functioned as lead on diverse development projects. Beyond some hands-on development, you will need experience in leading a team & pitching and selling projects, by doing tech validation, estimations, and communicating technical solutions. As a minimum, the job at hand will require an Architect who fulfils the following profile:

• Hands-on work with RESTful APIs; enterprise Java development/PHP (Laravel or Symfony)/Python/.NET; Git, git flow, GitHub; CI and CD; third party libraries and a range of third-party services
• Experience in software development, including leading teams on cloud-based and/or scalable digital solution builds for mobile, web and backend
• Cloud agnostic and experience of architecting complex cloud-based solutions
• Years of practical application of the Agile methodology and the ability to coach and inspire others in this approach
• Interest in mentoring/developing those around you and fostering an office environment defined by clear, open communication
• The cool head and social ease that makes you client-compatible and able to pitch ideas on all fronts; an effective representative of technical experts
• A passion for open source development and a work approach characterised by empathy, confident and consistent decision-making, and a love of problem-solving
• Knowledge of the challenges that accompany cross-office and/or digital agency product development and project management
• Experience with search technologies such as Solr, SolrCloud and Elastic search
• Strong advocate of testing and quality conscious
