Senior Automation Tester

My client a large financial consultancy are building a team of automation testers for a large financial client driven project

This role is a 1 year rolling contract hybrid working with 2-3 days per week spent with the team in the Swindon office

Key Results Areas

• Assurance of the quality of new features developed for the product groups
• Software meets or exceeds published metrics and quality benchmarks
• Be a fully engaged member of the Scrum Team or central QA Team
• Mentor and transfer knowledge to more junior QA engineers
• Take responsibility for the effective resolution of issues as they arise either within scrum or central QA team

Key Tasks

• Development of new automated tests that ensure the quality of new feature development covering functional and non-functional tests
• Drive improvements to quality assurance
• Adherence to standards and best practices
• Ensure knowledge is spread across squads and teams
• Work as “one team” to ensure deliveries are on time and to a high quality – becoming “T-shaped”
• Analyse failing tests – triage, then deep dive to surface root cause
• Help identify areas of improvement i.e. Test run times or code effectiveness

Core skills

• Experienced back end testing of Java based systems and applications
• Candidate must be able to review and correct Java code(Junit)
• Commercial experience of testing systems that incorporate microservice architectures and web applications
• Good experience of one or more of the following
• BDD and TDD
• Performance & load testing at unit or component level
• Security testing
• UI & accessibility testing as required
• Data creation and curation
• DevOps practices and principles
• Experience of the following would be beneficial:
• AWS/Azure cloud services
• Junit, Cucumber
• XML/JSON
• Working with large databases (Oracle)
