Amy Willis joined Salt, , an award-winning Digital Recruitment Agency in December 2016 as a Creative Resourcer. She shares her experience working in a fast-paced, busy environment within a lively global recruitment organisation.
8.30am – 9.00am: Attend team meeting to discuss daily/weekly goals and objectives. Share with the team latest interviews, deals and CVs dispatched to clients. Set action plan to achieve set daily/weekly targets.
9.00am – 9.15am: Soon as the meeting ends, it’s time to check emails and respond to messages from the previous day. Ensure everything is up to date and ready to rock ‘n’ roll.
09.15am – 12.00pm: This is the peak selling time when I’m actively sourcing candidates and clients about live roles. I specialise in the creative industry so I search for candidates that are looking for Design, UI, UX roles.
My main task is to source CVs, post jobs and updates on job boards such as Creativepool, LinkedIn, and Jobsite. It is mainly phone based, canvassing candidates, and pitching clients. I advertise the roles on LinkedIn soon as it becomes live to my large network of connections who may respond immediately with interest.
Build up my candidate base where I’m expected to have 200+ CVs. Most of my time is spent speaking with candidates to find out more about their experience and the type of role they are looking for in the future.
The better I know each candidate the greater chance I’ll have selling them to clients. I usually go out of the office at least twice a week to meet with candidates and clients. Face to face meetings are essential for account development and achieving better buys.
12.00pm-1.00pm: I carry out admin work during this hour by entering the number CVs I’ve sent out or uploading CVs on the internal system.
1.00pm- 2.00pm: Lunch hour is spent getting a sandwich from the local supermarket and enjoying the London sunshine as much as possible.
2.00pm- 3.30pm: Peak selling time. Depending on how much is to do, I spend the first hour and a half doing business development. This involves planning which companies to call, find out the relevant person to speak with to find out what roles they may be hiring for.
3.30pm-5.00pm: Go back to resourcing for the roles I have. Check job boards once more to source extra CVs, post new jobs on LinkedIn and other job boards when they come in, and respond to messages from candidates and clients.
The clients I mainly work with are digital agencies or any organisation that a needs a solid website to promote their business.
5.00pm-6.00pm: Wind down the day by completing admin work.
6.00pm: Time to go home and refresh for the next busy day.
