“Education is what remains after one has forgotten what one learned in school.”
– Albert Einstein
There’s a common misconception that once you are finished with school or university, you are consequently finished with education – it can be argued that this is in fact when the real education truly begins. Your career is inevitably what enables you to make a living; whilst you should be focusing on putting food on the table, you should also want to succeed in your chosen field to reach your full potential.
Business writer, Tom Peters, once said: “A career is a portfolio of projects that teach you new skills, gain you new expertise, develop new capabilities, grow your colleague set, and constantly reinvent you as a brand.” Which is why self-education is so important – you can never stop learning in order to expand your “career portfolio.”
The world we live in is extremely fast-paced, which means that certain skills/knowledge can become obsolete suddenly; especially working in the tech industry. Because of this, self-education is vital in terms of keeping yourself relevant in your field of work. Just as technology is constantly being upgraded, you too must upgrade your skills and knowledge to keep up with the times.
Here is a selection of training programmes that we highly recommend:
