About the role
Based in West Auckland, our client is a highly respected NZ owned company that supplies a range of medical equipment and consumables to the NZ health care industry. They have a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager to develop, direct and oversee the purchasing activities, functions, and processes. Reporting to the GM of Operations, this hands-on role will ultimately be responsible in developing purchasing strategies and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities of purchasing products, equipment, and services. You will interact across the business to ensure stock management meets the companies needs and customer demands.
Key responsibilities will include
· Coaching and mentoring 6 direct reports – 4 Purchasing Officers and 2 Business Analysts
· Relationships with Product Managers and internal stakeholders
· Stock availability and forecast – ensuring stock meets forecast demand
· Cost pricing data management – creating and maintaining supplier price files
· Product category management – reviewing and identifying opportunities for efficiency and category maintenance and communicating to product managers
· Analysis and reporting – reviewing opportunities to increase operational efficiency
· Monitoring supplier rebates.
About you
· Minimum 5 year’s experience in a similar role
· Understanding of Supply Chain methodology – stock management, demand planning, forecasting
· Strong leadership skills and proven experience in staff development
· Commercial and financial acumen
· Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
· Strong computer literacy skills with reporting and analytical capabilities
· Strategic focus, results driven
