Shift Operations Manager

About the role

This crucial, hands on role, is responsible for ensuring the terminal operations are performing to set standards. In this busy 24/7 port it is important to ensure the Stevedoring resources are adequately allocated to deliver on the daily operational plans and the vessel exchange activities are managed effectively.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the terminal operations and vessel exchange activities
• Managing up to 150 operational staff per shift ensuring they match delivery demands.
• Ensuring operational excellence and maintain H&S compliance across the site.
• Delivering on target operational performance.
• Collaborating with Production Manager on operational exceptions or issues
• Liaising as appropriate with personnel in other areas to ensure operational processes are optimised and SOPs followed when impacted by unplanned factors.
• Reporting and completing vessel documentation

About you

You will thrive on being challenged daily, have a cool head under pressure and experience of managing large teams across a multi-functional site.

You will have:

• Proven experience in leading sizeable teams in a large operation
• Health and Safety leadership and experience with incident management
• Previous leadership experience in operational resource planning
• Experience in logistics, transport operations or maritime industry
• Strong interpersonal skills managing employee performance on shift.
• A background in delivering in a time sensitive environment.
• Proven ability to make business critical decisions under pressure.
