SQL Database Administrator
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to migration of on-prem applications and data centers into Azure
- Day-to-day support of the SQL Server landscape
- Support developers and architects by keeping server instances optimized and data changes applied.
- Frequent support involving query tuning, and database optimizations.
- Parsing extended events and log files for problem recognition and resolution.
- Powershell scripting, TSQL, and use of DMVs (dynamic management views) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Maintain SSRS, SSIS, and SSAS.
- Design, configure, deploy and administer Azure SQL databases in all environments including development, QA, and production.
- Partner with solution architect and development team to fully understand product requirements and configure the Azure database environments that meet these requirements.
Daily support includes tasks such as:
- Data migrations
- Execution of ticketed tasks which can include DML and/or DDL changes
- Updates to SQL Server replication publications and Always On availability groups.
- Database migration/restores to HA/DR architectures.
Required Experience:
- Experience with: Azure SQL, MSSQL, DBA, Data Modeling (logical and physical), Azure cloud. Extensive working experience migrating data into Azure
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a SQL DBA
- Strong understanding of MSSQL Server versions 2014-2019 and its components (SSRS, SSAS, SSIS)
- Experience tuning and optimization in an Azure environment
- Strong understanding of how to backup and restore using Azure storage and/or Azure vaults
- Strong knowledge of Azure development tools such as Azure data factory, Azure data lakes and Azure synapse
