HEAD OF PEDAGOGY

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Head of Pedagogy is required to oversee and manage the full-time and part-time teachers of the business as well as the Heads of Department (HODs) to ensure they are performing according to the SLAs and high levels of excellence to which parents and students are accustomed. This role includes setting the strategy for the content of the curricula, overseeing the HODs and teacher’s development of new content & ensure that it is to the standard of Cambrilearn & in accordance with the curriculum. In all interactions of managing the teachers, the Head of Pedagogy is expected to exhibit leadership behaviours and encourage excellence amongst the team. Lastly, the Head of Pedagogy should be a Brand Ambassador, representing the core values and culture of the business in all interactions.

ROLE OBJECTIVES

STRATEGIC PLANNING OF EXCELLENT CONTENT |Driving Innovation

* Drive the thinking on content and understanding what needs to be done to improve the level of content across Cambrilearn in order to effectively improve the overall offering.

* Analyse any Pedagogy strengths as well as any areas that need to be improved, create, and implement the long-term and short-term strategy and plan of action that addresses the activities needed to improve quality in the business.

* Understand the long-term strategy of the business and evaluate any gaps and ensure that the right processes are in place to achieve this. If necessary, build processes to support content development in the business aligned to the business strategy.

* Ensure oversight and awareness of any Cambridge changes to come that will impact on the relevance of the Cambrilearn content.

* Continuously look for and create innovative new ways of doing things that will attract new customers and drive increased student engagement.

* Proactively plan for and manage the revamp of subjects course material.

* Work with the Head of Departments and organize training sessions for the teachers when needed.

MANAGING OF CONTENT DEVELOPMENT | Ensuring Standardised Excellence

* Clarify and develop the comprehensible standard of what excellent content look like across

different mediums (live lessons, worksheets, videos, etc.).

* Ensure that HODs, teachers, and part-time teachers who are required to develop content, have an understanding, and are equipped with the skills to develop content to the determined standard.

* Support the HODs and teachers in researching or sourcing new material that is being produced or re-purposed.

* Have syllabus awareness of the full Cambrilearn offering and ensure that there is

* Consistency in the content from subject to subject, across grades and modules.

* Have content oversight on the development of material & evaluate content according to the standard as it is developed.

* Critically quality check the HODs and teachers’ new content and provide feedback to them for their development as content creators.

* Critically quality check videos before they are uploaded. Provide feedback on the content and creativity of the videos.

LEADERSHIP | Providing Leadership & Management of the Teachers

* Manage both the HODs and the teachers and ensure they are working towards their

deliverables and deadlines. This requires clarifying what is expected of them and holding them accountable for all key deliverables.

* Have formal meetings and informal catch-ups with the HODs and teachers. Provide the team with honest feedback on how they are doing – give appreciation and acknowledgment when people have done well and give honest developmental feedback when needed.

* Work with the Leadership team to help hire new HODs and teachers when necessary. On-board and training new HODs and teachers who join the team.

* Be available for the team when they require help, assist them with challenges they face.

* Identify any team challenges, shortcomings, and areas of development. Develop, train, and up-skill members of the team, teaching them skills and behaviours to be successful at completing their work effectively.

ADMINISTRATION | Effective Documentation & Accurate Capturing of Information

* Manage both the HODs and teacher’s capacity and scheduling timetable for Live Lesson and Q&A Timetable.

* Report on the Pedagogy team’s progress and performance. Provide feedback on the HODs and the teachers to the Principal.

* Assist with escalated student queries or parent complaints.

* Document or implement processes or regulations that support the Pedagogy team.
