Business Intelligence Analyst

PURPOSE STATEMENT

* To enable business to make better and faster decisions by utilizing data and analytical skills to provide support

to the wider Product Team, specified internal clients within the bank, and key business forums and committees.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Ensure adherence to best practices, principles and processes.

KEY TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Take ownership and responsibility for allocated focus area.

• Show interest in understanding the allocated client area; ask relevant questions.
• Responsible for effectively and efficiently addressing client queries / questions.
• Maintain integrity of existing reports or analysis affecting area.
• Escalate to Manager: Data Analytics where appropriate.
• Ask relevant questions to ensure understanding of the core business need driving the specific request.
• Interact with business users on a business level to understand the potential risk / business impact of the need.

2. Deliver on business requirements.

• Translate business needs into data analysis and provide insights to steer decision making of the business.
• Ensure the business requirement is documented appropriately to the correct standard.
• Include projected timelines to address business need.
• Discuss business requirement and timelines with Analytics Manager to prioritize tasks.
• During engagement with key stakeholders:
• Provide high-level overview of business requirement.
• Estimate the impact and potential risk of the business issue.
• Provide relevant, specific and detailed information upon request.
• Provide end-to-end data driven analysis to address business need.
• Identify potential business “triggers” that impact important reports, metrics and KPIs.
• Assess potential impact of “trigger” on reports, metrics and KPIs.
• Prepare formal communication / feedback to stakeholders on developed report or requested analysis timeously and in an understandable format.
• Responsible to review and provide feedback on data insights generated by team members.

3. Deliver Data Insights.

• Development of new report prototypes, data driven analyses and insights.
• Maintenance and enhancement of existing report prototypes, data driven analyses and insights.
• Distribution of report prototypes, data driven analyses and insights to clients.
• Ensure report prototypes, data driven analyses and insights produced conform to the Data Analytics Life Cycle.

4. Ensure adherence to best practice principles and processes.

• Adhere to agreed housekeeping principles on internal folders and databases.
• Ensure regular reviews and clean-ups of own work.
• Adhere to analytics best practice to ensure continuity in all tasks.
• Assist with the establishment of processes to ensure effective resolution of all queries.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

* Technological skills:

Minimum:

• Advanced Excel
• Advanced Word
• SQL or SAS

Ideal:

• Power BI/ AWS QuickSight / Any visualisation tool
• Visual Basic
• AWS Certified Data Analytics
• AWS Practitioner
