Junior Web Developer

Typical tasks:

* Interpreting a brief and translating a supplied prototype into a working WordPress website using Block Editor / Elementor / ‘Classic’ WordPress.

* Processing scheduled WordPress site updates (themes, plugins, etc) according to a roster and following a checklist.

* Performing ad hoc maintenance, troubleshooting and content updates to existing sites.

* Setting up (from supplied prototypes), testing and deployment of mail campaigns in Mailchimp, Sendinblue etc. Generating reports afterwards.

* Performing SEO audits on existing sites and implementation of recommendations

Candidate attributes: Experience using the WordPress platform, including:

* Theme and plugin management.

* Theme, plugin, shortcode development (beneficial).

* Familiarity with Block editor and / or Elementor as well as ‘classic’ WordPress methods.

* Migration and deployment of WP sites.

* Working with Custom Post Types and the Advanced Custom Fields plugin (beneficial).

* Setting up of server environments, both local and remote for development.

Experience of email marketing platforms:

* Examples: Mailchimp, Sendinblue.

* Familiarity with the above platforms.

* Experience with deploying mail campaigns and list management.

* Automation flow setup (beneficial).

Knowledge of the following:

* PHP, HTML, CSS and JS.

* SQL (beneficial).

* Foundation SEO best practices.

* Familiarity with Google Analytics, Tag Manager and Search Console

Characteristics of the ideal candidate:

* 2 -3 years experience.

* Attention to detail with a good visual eye.

* Strong work ethic with the ability to work unsupervised.

* Confidence to display initiative.

* Inquisitive to learn new methods and technologies and eagerness to impart knowledge onto colleagues.
