As the Data Scientist you will produce advanced analytics across all aspects of operations, including marketing, sales, customer engagement, risk and customer service using data mining and machine learning techniques.

 

The Data Scientist, duties and key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement predictive models and optimization algorithms that create business value
  • Produce analytical work that is:
  • Customer focused (Prospect identification, campaign analysis, cross & up-sell identification, churn and engagement modelling)
  • Finance focused (Profitability & lifetime value modelling)
  • Risk focused (Product design, pricing, underwriting, fraud & reserving analytics)
  • Discover trends, patterns and stories told by the data and present them to stakeholders
  • Leverage new open data sources and extract further value from existing company data
  • Produce creative data visualizations and intuitive graphics to present complex analytics
  • Leverage state-of-the-art data mining and machine learning tools and methodologies to drive improved business decisions

Our ideal Data Scientist, will have the below skills and experience:

Essential

  • Undergraduate degree in numerical subject
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Experience accessing and analysing data using language/tools/databases such as SQL, R, Python, SAS, SPSS, etc.
  • Experience in applying statistical techniques and building predictive or other mathematical models

Desirable

  • Masters or other advanced degree in statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related quantitative discipline
  • Previous insurance or financial services industry experience
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Experience using big data technologies such as Hadoop and Spark
